Events for the Nichiren Order of North America and our local area for 2011.
Oeshiki - On the way to a hot spa in Hitachi provence from Mt. Minobu to recover his heath, Nichiren Shonin's health declined. He rested at the Ikegami Munenaga's residence in present day Tokyo and could no longer continue his trip. On the morning of October 13, 1282, at 8:00 am, Nichiren Shonin ended his long life of spreading the Lotus Sutra for 60 years. The Oeshiki service is held to express our gratitude to our Founder. A Mondo parade is held the night before the Oeshiki Service at Honmon - Ji, the Temple located on the residence of Munenaga Ikegami. Honmon-Ji broadcasts the parade and service for those who would like to see. Please click the above link to go to Honmon-ji's webpage in English. The parade starts on October 12 at 8pm Japan time. The service begins October 13 at 7am Japan Time.
