Highlights of upcoming NONA Events: Relief Fund for NorthEast Japan: The Nichiren Order of North America has set up a fund for aid to Northeast Japan. Please read the letter (click above title) for more information. Oeshiki - On the way to a hot spa in Hitachi provence from Mt. Minobu to recover his heath, Nichiren Shonin's health declined. He rested at the Ikegami Munenaga's residence in present day Tokyo and could no longer continue his trip. On the morning of October 13, 1282, at 8:00 am, Nichiren Shonin ended his long life of spreading the Lotus Sutra for 60 years. The Oeshiki service is held to express our gratitude to our Founder. A Mondo parade is held the night before the Oeshiki Service at Honmon - Ji, the Temple located on the residence of Munenaga Ikegami. Honmon-Ji broadcasts the parade and service for those who would like to see. Please click the above link to go to Honmon-ji's webpage in English. The parade starts on October 12 at 8pm Japan time. The service begins October 13 at 7am Japan Time. In 2014, NONA will sponser a pilgrimage to historical and important sites of the Nichiren Order in Japan. Please start saving and talk to your minister. The retreat is an opportunity for Nichiren Shu members and anyone interested in Nichiren Buddhism to practice intensely and experience many different practices. The Dharma Conference is held every year as a learning opportunity. The Dharma Conference is held regionally and nationally. Sangha members and those interested in Nichiren Buddhism may participate in Lectures, Disccussions and Learning Experiences during the Dharma Conference. NONA Conference 2012: The NONA Conference is held every four years. At the Conference officers on both the Lay and Minister sides are elected. We will be holding our Conference in the fall of 2012 in Las Vegas. Please contact your local Temple/Sangha for more information.
